Make it a bittersweet goodbye

Keep it simple

Keep it sweet

I guess it’s time

 

For me to pack these memories

Erase your egregious lies

My useless fantasies

And tear you from my paper heart

 

Silence speaks to me

More than your words ever did

Under a moonlit sky

We could never be complete

 

Your eyes, like a knife

Tear through my bubble wrap skin

I bleed scarlet, tainting the night

Tasting hauntingly of your sweet sin

 

Let the wind carry me away

Closer to the rays of the sun

Promises broken, secrets kept, I’m weightless

As you hang sunshine on laundry lines

 

Amidst the rustle of autumn air

A velvet voice hums soft melodies

A cherry red fragrance hovers in the breeze

Coloring my senses as you speak

 

A string of desire begins to fray

Intertwining finely into the wind

Slipping through my fingers

Drifting further and further away.
