Reminisce

I’m learning to fall

You’ve taken so much with you

And left the worse with me

As you’re lost in the distance, I start to breath

 

A deafening silence escapes between us

As pieces of broken moonlight

Reflect a shaking voice, crying out

Awaiting nothing but unanswered questions

 

We’ll reminisce in my dreams

Dare to speak of times we never looked back

Far from home we would meet

And fulfill the confidence I lacked

 

As months fly by

I call out your name

But you turn away from my cries

Away from our burning flame

 

It seems you won’t let me sleep

Your pained expressions still haunt me

Won’t let me forget

That you have forever left

 

Someone take me home

Save me from the truth

This current carries me alone

Deeper into the water, consumed

 

As I look to the sky

Forget the voice that made me fly

Forget all we’ve ever known.
