ConstellationsA Poem by Amy Selena
My fingers tap to the reverberating beat of the past
The warm summer breeze rushes by fast
Whispering lullabies to my new born heart
Leaving behind memories of tearing apart
The empty road ahead
Is a chance for us to begin this journey
Cruising below a watercolor sky of red
I unpack your smile from my thoughts
A simple feature that makes me complete
Explain to me how I’m deserving of your attention
When I’m not far past the starting line
Stumbling towards an unknown destination
With you several paces ahead, showing me the light
I’ll stay up all night under radiant constellations
Inviting a parade of familiar fragrances
Your faint scent escaping a single strand of hair
Drifting along in the salty night air
I’ll close my eyes
And meet you in my dreams
With your warmth nearby
It’s a peaceful reverie
Your soft spoken voice
Is my soothing melody
A composition of harmonies
An eternity could not compose
But this short lived journey could not last
It seems I’ve been deceived
Of a dream forgotten in the past
It’s just my luck this fantasy is what used to be.
