The ImperfectA Poem by Amy SelenaRemberance seeps through my pages Where far away lies the memories we created
The days I won’t regret
The times I can’t forget
The walls are getting darker
I’ve left my light within you
A vision of the past lost in truth
Erased by the present, still falling further
The days she smiled at you from underneath
Her eyes holding strength from the past
But somewhere you turned away
Leaving empty spaces for words I couldn’t say
Stolen by the familiar blackness
That pulled me through your endeavor
The shattered fantasies of “forever”
The pieced back into reality’s mess
You left me falling harder
Into thoughts you’ve long abandoned
I hope the air will serve as a reminder
That I’m still here, my past still lingering
You smile at me like you used to
Yet its meaning lost behind your eyes
A feeling that once took over me and you
But what’s left now is a bittersweet goodbye
You’ve forgotten
Disregarded your regrets
You left me
To forget.
