Pieces of Your ReflectionA Poem by Amy SelenaOne word, one question: why? Could care less what others do I thought with these days of apart, you’d be just fine It’s what you thought too
You’re a mess and I can’t help it Let me know how you’re doing But I won’t be here for long, won’t wait Keep going and I’ll be leaving All the things you’ve said to me Have become shattered pieces Of the glass bottles you’ve broken Empty, drained and mistaken The anger’s fading The questions gaining But you went through with it Drank the poison and waves of guilt Your fading memory Keeps me from your hollow eyes Now shaking and deceived Your expressionless face won’t give way to what’s on your mind You need me more than expected I’m afraid you’ve taken me by surprise It seems I’m not the only one who’s vulnerable You’re becoming impossible to find In this sea of actions That belongs to none other than a stranger And I need for you to come back Find your reflection among the pieces and remember who you are I need you to put these promises back together Because I always thought you were stronger But your signs of weakness ease through the cracks As they tear at any thought of getting back You knew I was unprepared From the way your voice fights the echoes, I know you’re scared But my dear, things have changed I won’t be alone as long as you stay. © 2008 Amy Selena |
