You're Giving Me Such a RushA Poem by Amy SelenaThe air was stirring at half past five While we lay still side by side But then you asked me that fateful question And my blood started pulsing Through my veins and to my heart That beat fast and loud And said yes to this new start I could hear you smile as if it had a sound And with that you fingers twisted through mine As our souls intertwined Tell me you’ll never dare to leave Because I need you here with me More than you know Say you’ll mean it I’ve left so much with you And have so much more to give Baby I miss you But I’ll see you in my dreams I’ll see you soon Just thinking of you drives me crazy it seems What did I ever do to deserve this? Tonight I’ll lie awake and remember how The words that came from your mouth were perfectly flawless And I’ll be at home in the clouds Yet every passing second without your sight Is a chance for the night air to become even colder But I’ll fill the empty spaces as a sign To show you how much you really are The stars begin to fade away As the sudden rain pours down on cement The storm welcomes me hopefully to see your face Somewhere out there as I become drenched My fingers shake and my skin loses color But far away I hear your voice Muffled by water, shattered by thunder You’re giving me such a rush There’s no time to waste Only for you will I run through the stabbing rain My crashing heartbeat sounds out the thunder As your warm smile brings back my color We’ll say goodbye to the terrible pain Lead me back into your arms Don’t ever let go It hurts too much to be apart So keep me warm, it’s my only hope. © 2008 Amy SelenaReviews
