Push PlayA Poem by Amy SelenaYour words come quick and easy While mine are twisted and clumsy It’s been some time since I last heard your voice Everything else just seems like noise Maybe I’m overreacting Or maybe you’ve forgotten But tell my why you’ve fallen for me The way I keep falling, falling for you I hope you care enough to catch me In your arms before I hit the ground I’m scared that you’ll leave without a single sound That what we had was just a foul A strike in one of these deadly games Please, don’t waste your time on me Yet without you, it wouldn’t be the same I need you to stay can’t you see? So push play on my silver stereo And a little thing called music will show you how I feel It’s confusing, I know And all the while, I’m head over heels Keep my pieces together They’re still being repaired I hope you’re capable of my endeavor If not, it’s just a candle being burned Waiting to scream out I may be asking too much But I need your warmth in this cold air You’re my chance to get out of this bad luck Even if you disagree, it’s what I deserve I’ll keep your picture with me Deep in my pockets, buried in my thoughts To remind me of what we can be Let’s put our magic together and see what we can concoct I’m lacking the confidence Will you help me out? Our recipe might start to make sense I’ll stir up the ingredients of your smile While you sprinkle the meaning of these words What we have has spilled all over the kitchen tiles For us to see what this is worth Put your hand in mine We’ve made something of this mess Your eyes tell me its time To let go of all this distress. © 2008 Amy Selena
