Sonnet #3

Sonnet #3

A Chapter by Abigail Muddiman

Hair black like the night sky above, brown eyes

Shine bright gold in the setting of the sun--

He never failed to take her by surprise

With a love that could never be outdone.

He saved her in a way he could not know,

She loved him in a way she could not say;

She speaks softly, over thinking, although

He knows exactly what is on her brain.

She fears the day that he will up and leave,

Throwing her back to where she was before.

Despite her fears, he gives her everything--

Ensures her she will never want for more.

Infectious was his laughter, and he knew

That every loving word she wrote was true.

Sweet really sweet. Yet somehow the use of past tense in the end makes me think he died.
