Does anyone know if the word every (line 3, here) is made of 2 syllables or 3?
I tried to check with syllable-counters available online. They gave me different results.

I read this aloud 3 times, okay 4. I see the syllable count form for the poem above, I realize line 3 is supposed to be 5 syllables, but it sounds better to me with the extra beat... as if e-ve- ry were 3 syllables. Just personal preference.
I was thinking about the theme in this one. Longing. Longing to see that 'one' face in every other face. It caused me to think back and wonder if I have a face like that in the back of my mind somewhere. The only one I want to see in every other.
(see K squint eyes and shake head... ) You know I am not sure. I have been in many... way... waaay too many relationships. Searching through all of them I am not sure about the face. The only one that has remained a constant in any of them is mine... only now it's a middle aged face... blah. (K now sticks out her tongue)
I wonder if the 'one' face will ever materialize or if I will have to accept that it is only me that I have been waiting for all this time...
I think it's two but I'm not that sure either. First off, this is an unbelievably amazing write to which i could relate. True love that you can't let go even if she, i mean he, had already shut her, I mean his, door in your face. Sometimes, love is just like that. It sure hurts but that's just part of the enjoyment of it all. We are all twisted. Thanks for sharing. Just what I needed. Keep up the good work and send me more of your read requests. I really enjoy reading your works. =P
It has "3"..ev-er-y ...this is from ebsters dictionary..I know people from different parts of the country speak in a little bit different tone and will say some word wrong..never the less....it is a beautiful write..God bless..Valentine
Ok, first I think it is 3 syllables, but that is just my opinion. It really doesn't matter because this is brilliant and so true for so many. The longing for that one person is so great that we may not even fully give another a chance and that other may be so much better for us. Truly an heartbreaking feeling. You captured this dilemma perfectly!!! This stirs a myriad of emotions in me. Great piece!
How sad, "I look for you ... In every man," and the worst part is, it is to true to so many, "You're the one I wish to see." Why don't we listen when love knocks, because we know it is not who we are waiting for.
I would say three, but I don't know that much about Tanka's. This is sad to me...where is this long lost man. He needs to get back here now and so you can live happily ever after!
Love the picture and font. Lends themselves beautifully to this piece. :-)
"I'm still looking for you.."
Such a great write full of emotions and feel.
Quite sad :(
But this write is full of remorse pain and suffering.
"Still looking for youeven though I know that I'll never find you..."-Beautifully sad
and yeah The pic is also quite appealing :)
Writing is easy. You only need to stare at a piece of blank paper until your forehead bleeds - Douglas Adams.
