Heal the Heart

Heal the Heart

A Poem by Imperfection
"

This is for a friend who will never read it. I wish this message reaches him somehow.

"

I know it’s hard to forget

To erase those memories of the two of you

To throw away pieces of a broken dream

For yours was a love that was so true

Some colors grow paler with time

But only if you let them fade away

Let your tears wash away the hue

That is all I want to say

Like flowers that wilt when broken from the stem

You must close the chapter with a final seal

Please don’t water the plant of pain

You deserve a chance - a chance to heal.

Great advice. Yes, it's alright to feel the pain at first, let it out a little. Then it's time to put it behind you and move along. To twist a famous movie quote, "These aren't the loves we are looking for." Once they hurt, let them go.

We all deserve the chance to heal, but its easier said than done. The memories stay forever in our hearts. And those memories will always take you back to 'what if'. Don't throw away "yours was a love that was so true". Don't just give each other "a chance to heal"; give each other another chance to love.

I really like this.. It speaks to something I'm going thru right now.
Like flowers that wilt when broken from the stem
You must close the chapter with a final seal
Please don't water the plant of pain
You deserve a chance - a chance to heal.
Encourages and helps me heal.
Thanks so much for sharing this.

I loved this! Great flow and visuals.

Brilliant lines:

"Let your tears wash away that hue
That is all I want to say...
Please don't water the plant of pain..."

Excellent job, and wonderful advice.

The name of this poem caught my attention, so I decided to go ahead and read it. I loved it. I love the simple rhyme scheme and I love the rhythm. Moreover, I loved the diction and imagery:

"Some colors grow paler with time"

I love that line, as well as

"Like flowers that wilt when broken from the stem
You must close the chapter with a final seal"

Your tone seems very warm and comforting, which adds to the overall effect. Great job.

I love the last two lines in this piece. It's so hard to watch those we care about go through such hard times. You've written this so beautifully. I agree with Helen, it is gentle.
