The Strength of a Broken Heart

The Strength of a Broken Heart

A Poem by Imperfection

I can look at a bleeding heart, and turn my face away
To the face of a crying child, there’s nothing that I want to say

I’m blind to the emotions that used to disturb me before
Physical discomfort no longer feels half as sore

Not even does the fear of death scare me
But conquering all this pain hasn’t come for free

My feelings have turned numb since we parted ways
Since then my palette has only known dull grays

The death of togetherness I have always to mourn
But a broken heart is the best pain killer I have known

Separating from you was my worst nightmare

Now that it has come true, everything else hurts less.

The death of togetherness I have always to mourn
But a broken heart is the best pain killer I have known - Wow! This is so beautifully sad!
A broken heart not only symbolizes pain and sorrow, it also symbolizes strength to carry on with this life, to carry on with a heart even without its beat!

I often wonder why does it hurt so much when we lost our love, may be because we loved them so much that we forgot to keep a little love for ourselves T-T

Its been three years now since I joined writerscafe...
I have read a lot of poems and stories all along the way...Some I remember, Some I don't...Some I loved the most and some I not.
This poem Caffeine (I do not know why, but I still calls you by this name)...This poem has to be the best "piece of art" which I've read at Writerscafe in all these past three years.
Thank you for sharing this part of you with all of us...
I do not know exactly when..But someday, I'm going to write an entire book by this name (The strength of a broken heart) and will dedicate that book to this single poem...That is the effect of this poem on my life..

"The death of togetherness I have always to mourn

This hits the spot. Like a bull's eye. Literally.

"Separating from you was my worst nightmare
Now that it has come true, everything else hurts less."

This truly shows how deep your pain runs....remarkable indeed!

Great job, you came up with some really powerful lines, my favorite is "since then my pallette has only known dull grays" you have quite a way with words! good luck in my contest.

"But a broken heart is the best pain killer I have known"... Wouldn't that be best pain I have known? Wait, no, because it gets rid of all other pains. Anyway, great piece, though I find it a little difficult to read right now.

Uhm, I don't remember reading this (I just saw I comment I made six months ago...o.O),so I'll comment it again. :D I thought this was very lovely and that you've been very strong with this heart break of yours.

Wow,
I wish these pieces had dates. I wonder how long this love has tortured you, and perhaps stopped you from finding another love. Sad piece. Rain..
