My Best Friend

My Best Friend

A Poem by Imperfection
"

Inspired by another poem...can't recall the name of the poet, though...

"

He has stood by me
Through everything
My worst of nightmares
Best times of spring

When I needed tranquility
In times of distress
When others had left
He had stayed nonetheless

His presence is soothing
His demeanor calm
I’ve always found solace
In his arms

From his SILENT strength
I derive fortitude
My beloved friend
His name is SOLITUDE.

Ah! This is so painful; the last line really left me out of words. As a reader, I can highly relate myself with it.
A best friend is someone who always stays with you at every walk of your life. For some, a best friend could be a person, for some people it could be a pet or anything else. But for those, who have that inevitable amount of sadness and loneliness in their hearts, solitudes is indeed their best friend.
This is really SAD!
But, so true....
The line - "My beloved friend" gave readers a thought that now you have started enjoying with this loneliness.
What a beautiful irony!
Exceptional piece of writing!

Thoroughly enjoy that particular friend's company myself as well. Quite welcome at times, isn't he?

Nicely done. I like the form and structure. I can relate to the subject as well. Solitude can be such a good friend at times.

Cheers!
Doc.
