Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Nichole Cosgrove

Brick by brick these walls were built

Hoping to block out the dragons breath of fire

Only the most noble may have the key to the door

To protect and watch from the gaurdspost

To fight back the fire

To fight back the pain

For this I have waited

To be able to scale those unrelenting walls

To prove myself is all I've wanted

For someone to break down those walls is all I've dreamed

Waiting...waiting...waiting

Sometimes it seems I've waited a lifetime

And sometimes I don't know if I'm ready

So here I am hoping and waiting

Knowing I may someday be found

But still impatient

Just waiting for the day

When I can scale

These brick walls
