MOTHER

MOTHER

A Poem by Shweta Sunil

Oh! I wish I told you--
How much I held in my heart for you
All that flowed out through mere words,
They failed to sing what the heart composed.

I wish I told you
The beauty that I saw,
From when my tiny hands touched your finger,
To when you held me up,and helped me stay.
From when you lost everything to give to me-
A life, that you dreamt for You,
To when you stopped living to love me.

I wish I was there for you
The way you would--
When you hid from the emotion,
And shed the tears,
That you did not accept,
In some unworthy corner--
That couldn't make you feel better than I.

Oh! I wish I could be,
Half the daughter,
For the Mother,
You are to me.
