KALON

KALON

A Poem by Shweta Sunil
"

Ever wondered how man could've descended from the Gods themselves?

"

KALON                         -By Shweta Sunil

Her soul, as pure as the night sky

Dotted by the silver stars

And the patience of the shining moon

With love to share

And only goodness... Never thought she would fall so soon

Her white dress, as white as snow

It glimmered as she walked past

Her heart,as beautiful as Aphrodite

She had nothing in her, nothing to hate

As she walked by, the darkness she lit

The hearts filled with remorse.. Would be turned into love

They all wondered who he would be

The lucky one, to have a soul as divine

She was one, one in all

She was the God, the Good in this world

Draped in white, she was happiness

The warmth, the sunlight in the darkest night

And then he came along, the Girl had fallen

For the unusual

The Dark Lord,The Lord of Darkness, one like Erebus himself

His cape, it carried in it

The innocent souls of the sinless minds

Took all the warmth that surrounded her

Oh no, He loved her too...

She wasn't alone, not this time

The dark forests, the light of the night

They all showed them a way to love

They danced, danced under the gleaming moon

With passionate hearts and undying love

He, he was the lord, the Lord of Darkness

And she the God of love and happiness

But when her warmth was shadowed by his love

Her light was put out by his unfortunate bitterness

No, he didn't want to do it, he didn't want to kill that spark

Neither did she, want to give up on him

Through the darkness, she saw his love

The forced legacy he was told to carry on

She knew it wasn't him inside that cape

She knew it wasn't his heart that killed those innocent souls

She knew him, from beyond what she saw

She loved him from the heart, not the soul

He always feared, that his darkness was slowly

Taking away her soul

As much as he wanted to enjoy her affection

He also wanted to let  go

He never wanted to miss those glistening eyes

Shimmering with excitement and grace

She had taught him that the place he was living in

Had joy, had love, had those sweet memories

Only if he knew how to seek for them

But he, he was told that the world it was full of sinners

Waiting to prey on lost tranquility

He was told to kill, he was told,

he was taught to unleash the beast that lay within

He never saw that side of him

That she saw, showed to him

The truth was, with every step he took with her

He saw the thorns disappear

Every time he danced with her, he felt what he never did earlier

But the truth was known

They were not to be

Their story was to end unhappy

Their love, it was never meant to be

Because he,knew it was he

Who kept feeding on her happiness

Unknowingly, unintentionally

Everyday, they danced under the

Sweet shade of the ever-green trees

And as he took his steps toward her

She headed towards doom

And she, she knew it too..

It was either he or she

One of them had to live,

The other, the other to perish

"No this, this can't happen" they said

You can't love this beast

You, you are the beauty and he, he the beast

He would devour you, of you fear

Finish all the love, you will suffer

It broke her heart to watch him leave

To let him go, with the pain in his eyes

He went ahead to bid his last goodbye

For the first time, the first time, his eyes, they felt moist

Her warm hands he held, with his that were cold

"I love you, always"

She held back the tears and whispered "Forever"

The next moment, he was gone, far away

Their story it had ended, atleast that's what she thought

She saw him disappear

And the life in her light, he took with him

For again, never did she smile

Her eyes, they were never dry

She knew it was not meant to end this way

She knew that her wild heart could be given its right place

Only with his touching soul

Her soul could be relieved of the hunger

Only with the touch of his love

And so she went, for no, this couldn't be the life she wanted

She decided to enter the phase she feared the most

His life, his world, the life of the So-Called Bad

And so she entered,

Alas! The Good had entered the Bad

Her pure soul was touched by the impurity

Of the life of her love

She had known, he was right there, his cape, it swept on the floor

It seemed darker than other days

She had never seen him this way

His hand, though they were stained by the bad he had to do

They were the same hands that she held that day, when they danced, the two

Hood on face, he stared at the world below

For he didn't know what awaited him, the sweet maiden dressed in white

'Oh, sweet love,no more could I stand' she melodiously called out

He jumped up, expressions creased with shock, elated was he

To see his love standing before him

'No, no this can't be.. We were never meant to be'

You stay, I perish.. You perish, I stay

No,I can't do this to you, we are meant to end up unhappy

''Unhappy is never the end"

When I said forever, it's what I meant

And forever, it never ends..

No,I won't let go, not if the world dies

At this, he knew, he couldn't stand no more

He crept behind.. Carried himself

In no time, he leapt towards her

Seemed like a shadow, a minute or so

And then, then he seared through her heart

She smiled through the pain, she knew he was right

She smiled as her feet left the ground

He had entered her heart once in for all

Her purity, it was taken for love of her own

He was now in her heart, the evil and the good

He silently went and took some of her heart

And left some for all the goodness she had

And thus was created, the most dangerous species of all

Created she was with sacrifice and love

Her heart it had, the light and the dark

With their love, it turned her into

The lovliest beast there ever could be

She was thus named

And grew to be as fearless, as good, as bad could be

The good she had, but deep inside lay the dark

She marked the beginning

The beginning of The Human Race...
