Crestfallen: the poem

By Aaron Micah

Over my head waves of future doubt…rush my mind

I feel broken, confused…lost, my once clear path…I cannot find

The rapids of a distant existence…quickly approach

The crest of the wave falls headlong…into my reproach

                Broken I come before You

Transfixed I leave Your presence

This is the glory of Him

                                Who gave His begotten

                For this reason my King

                                He will not be forgotten

                For You gave Him freely

That I may never fear passing

You taught me of faith, hope, and love…I never forgot

Though the perfect vision of it all…I have fought

And I am lost to wonder why…have I been forsaken?

Your spirit stirs my affection…shaken, I come once more…

                Broken I come before You

Transfixed I leave Your presence

This is the glory of Him

                                Who gave His begotten

                For this reason my King

                                He will not be forgotten

                For You gave Him freely

That I may never fear passing

This is a poem for the suicidal, the sadist, the masochist

The struggle with depression, death, and destruction

The broken, lost, and confused who raise a shaking fist

Mark me off the hit list I am only here to assist

Judge me not for how I appear

I feel your fear and I have seen your tears

Just remember…who has brought you here

So lend an ear…lend both to be clear

                Broken we come before Him

Transfixed we leave His presence

This is the glory of He

                                Who gave His begotten

                For this reason my King

                                He will not be forgotten

                For You gave Him freely

That we may never fear passing
