What Should have been

Just one way I choose to release my mind....

We see what we want to see

We run towards what we think we want

Never allowing the thought in that it's no really what we need

We fight so hard to get that which we think burns in our soul

We refuse to let go

We never see that we are shutting the doors on something that could set fire to our souls

We keep our minds closed

We keep our hearts held hostage behind walls and gates

Only letting in the wrong sort

Always getting hurt

Always building those walls ever higher

Never realizing we are turning our backs on what could have been

Closing our hearts to what should have been

Leaving behind those who love us the most
