Let Go

Let Go

A Poem by Amindy

Pour another cup,
Let the steam rise and
Waft away with
Memories we've shared.
Jazzed on caffiene,
Drinking in the bitterness-
The end of a chapter
In our lives.
People come and go,
Integrate, participate
'Til feelings dissipate
And leave an empty shell.
Familiar strangers
Across a table
Exchanging:
"How've you been?"
"Remember when-"
"Just be friends."

Mugs are empty,
Pot run dry,
Every silence deafening
And no reason left to stay.
So say farewell,
Send a prayer-
You say "I'll call,"
Though I know you never will.
One final half embrace
With no passion left to
Warm the chill.

A bittersweet tango
Drawn out too long
And I must learn to
Let Go.
