Homework

My biggest enemy.

Homework O Homework,

Please leave me alone.

I have plenty of problems,

To solve of my own.

Someday I want to rip you,

Or crush you in my fist.

Other days I wish,

You just didn’t exist.

When I’m awake or sleeping,

You’re always on my mind.

Then I jolt out of bed,

Remembering another ‘you’ assigned.

Why O why,

Do you make me so blue?

Even in my sleep,

I’m thinking about you.

Pestering me every moment,

Constantly on my head.

I beg of you to choose,

Someone else to annoy instead.

And Rutherford B. Hayes,

Gonna help me survive

In my future days?

Twenty years from now

When I’m standing in my kitchen,

Will I really need to know

The log of eleven?

But if it weren’t for you,

I’d be like that rock over there.

With nothing to do,

Sitting dumbly in my chair.

Nevertheless, you,

The thing so commonly called work

Are really (in disguise),

The reasons why I go berserk.

So I owe you credit,

For making me go crazy.

But really, without you,

I’d become truly lazy.

I don’t know whether to thank you,

Or make you the target of my kung fu.

So for now, since I’m undecided,

I’ll just stick to completing you ;)

Author's Note

Silly poem I wrote about homework. Yeah, I know, it sounds choppy/cheesy in some places, but this was a spur of the moment thing. Oh, by the way, if you haven't noticed, punctuation is just not my thing. If you have any critiques on that, please let me know!

Ohh this was great, such truth in it, homework. I quite enjoyed the rhyme, it was a bit cheesy but that's what makes this poem so good.

i love it. I feel exactly the same way about homework. For some reason, I can't concentrate too long on anything else when I know my homework is due within five hours. I'll be praying or reading or cooking or whatever and I'll suddenly remember. It's so aggravating. You have a real talent when it comes to poetry, Ami.
