Pride

Pride

A Poem by amenimity
"

poem by KC writer Joni Wilson aka Amenimity

"

His pride drags him hard by the wrists

As I watch him suffocate

I realize I am nothing

Without pretty face

His anger kills all that he knows

As I watch him drown

I realize I am something

When I tear him down

Give me something to hold on to

I say, as I let you go

Well give me something to love you

She will never know

His desolate smile fades

As I pull out a 40

He sees that I’m so serious

As I give him more of me

I wasn’t just a trophy or prize

But his tongue can’t stay still

The lover stays as the fish swim away

In the flight for his condescension

One erroneous moment kills the six years

As I realize my stand is oblivious

For the best the day is near

That I run away

Give me something to bear down on

I say, as I fidget away

Well give me something, for the attention is drawn

As I throw it all away
