![]() Victim of TemptationA Poem by amenimity![]() poem by Kansas City writer Joni Wilson aka Amenimity![]() What if that someday just never comes? People wait their entire lives for “that day” Some die alone Some die in misery Some are dead before they even die Who’s to know our purpose? And who’s to care? I had a vision when I was younger Nothing special, but I just knew my life would be taken care of Some people wait Some people wait their whole life And in the end, they've waited for nothing I say screw the waiting and go find the people that are waiting I've changed my mind so much So often That sometimes I've forgotten what I was waiting for Some wait for love Some for money Others for glitz, glamour and fame Why do we waste our lives waiting? Or why do we waste our lives working, sleeping, bullshiting When we know that this can’t possibly be the purpose to our life. I write to ease tension I write because this is my soul And I know someday that this will all be worth writing Someday, if that ever comes We all die of something everyday Something that pulls us further and further away from who we really are Temptation I would have to say is by far the biggest thing we die from My thoughts are meaningless without an explanation We are tempted for sex, money, illegal acts of indecency, drug use, alcohol use, gambling, driving fast, selfishness All are acts of temptation These are the acts we die from Each day There are too many people to make it To really make it and appreciate what they've been granted But there’s purpose to everything I’m often inspired Always to be better I usually die, victim to temptation © 2014 amenimity |
