A Poem by Lyn Anderson
"

it is a love story ... image courtesy https://www.pexels.com/photo/stone-artwork-326612/

"
I want to be your rock
a bye to sleep ...

Not a stone
in your pocket
already stuffed too full
with sorrow and worry -
too full of empty losses ...

I want to rock you always
Head to feet;
Cradle you,
not weigh you down ...

Let me be your rock
as you are mine ...

Keeping me stoned,
pleasantly tied,
Always
high ...

Such a supportive and loving poem here. Clever on its word play as well. A song has just come into my head ‘solid as a rock’ and for the life of me, I can’t remember who the artist is. A good solid write here Lyn.

Thank you for your kind review
I like the play on words and different uses of stone, rock, and being high on love.
very concise, romantic in its brief delivery.

that is rare these days, but so beautiful to hear.
Wonderful and kind words shared dear Lyn. We need people to be our rock. And us, their rock. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You are welcome my friend ... steady and in deep
Interesting exhibition of the meanings "rock" can have. It is something or someone who is steady and immovable in the storms. On the other hand, it can be something that weights a person dow, preventing progress. And, as you note, a cradle can be rocked soothingly. Then there is "stoned" as in high on something, and that whole genre of music. It's amazing how many meanings our language can have for different things. Not sure about that "pleasantly tied" part, though. Be wary of anyone who wants to tie you.
