You are

my first 

thought,

my last,

my next;

my everything

in between --

what was, 

what is;

what hasn't 

happened

Yet.

 

Unexpected lines, 

tiny coincidences … it was always you

I was searching for ...

Names and dates, 

paths intersected, 

but never crossed .. until that day

I didn't know it then, 

I am not even sure 

the when 

one day

I held your breath 

inside me

and I just knew

It was always you.

I was lonely then, 

when I wanted more …

but More

was what 

I'd always gotten ...

More words

More promises

More things

to wrap the lies

in pretty ribbons

of More -

What I needed

was Less

than what I wanted

and more

than I ever dreamed

You are the Less 

I needed

than all the More

who came before
