painting you in wordsA Poem by Lyn Andersonmore insufferable love lines from a smitten kittenAs the falling night paints bruises on the day's
rosy cheeks
I am coming always coming to you ... Even when I have to leave the rest of me is with you Can you feel it? Until I come again if I could paint you in words they would sing sweet and true,
If I could paint you in words,
they'd colour sky and sea blue,
If I could paint you in words,
your touch would be silk and sand,
If I could paint you in words,
your scent would be earth and land, if I could paint you in words the canvas would tell the world how much I love you. when I met you I was drowning;
anchored to the bottom
I'd forgotten I could swim.
and in my panic I drank your kisses
and let them fill me
forcing me to the surface
where I could breathe -
deep inside your calm
I found the will to love again
inside the ocean of your eyes
so honestly blue -
and in the roughness of your hand
barefoot on softest sand -
I found my way to dry land
when I met you
the words I write
aren't the half of what I feel
the words I say
aren't ever quite right -
you saved me
in ways I can't express -
and love -
I'll be here
as long as you want me to be -
and not a second longer
because that's how much
you mean to me
