for Lydia -- who is so damned good at recounting lost loves. For Neville -- whose romantic adventures always entice, and to Relic -- who regrets his roaming hands
His
freckles were
impeccable;
His eyes
an impossible
shade
of earthy
green flecked
fire ...
His lips
softly hardening
youth's clumsy
desire ...
Summer sweat in the attic,
and his "Little Red Corvette" was just
too fast ...
oh wow, yes, I do remember such moments in time when lines were approached but not crossed and wondering later on about what ifs

You have an amazing line-up of inspirations (above) but to me, this sounds like YOU! ALL YOU! I'm thinking this sounds less like something out of your personal experience (as you sometimes write) & more like an imaginary artistic creation that harkens back to a classic unforgettable song. This puts us right back there in the middle (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A great tribute and flashback on old desires and the thought that they seemed to fill every waking moment when I was younger. Yummy, nostalgic and full of whimsy. I like the pairing and mention of the song as well. Too good!
dear Lyn... your poetry has an aire of young love and freckles with green eyes and a song to touch the innocence of passion. We had our last high school reunion because of our age. But memories of our youth still linger as the leaves of December. truly love your dedications. As ever, Pat

Thanks so much. I think there are some things that truly become sweeter with time
Ah, this one brings me back to the days of "submarine races" and drive in movies! I am honored you dedicated this one to me...and two other great poets on this site! Love that Prince song too! Wonderful work. Lydi**

It so reminded me of all your romantic reminiscing ... Thanks
Love it. Perhaps it is the mention of green eyes, which always conjures a raven haired Irish beauty that I was lucky enough to get lucky with. She must have liked me too, because I don't recall a single slap meeting my cheek or her voice screamiing for me to shut up.
(some time later, after falling into an Irish trance...)
I do hate to be picky, as I have never had occasion to with your work, but surely you meant to say Neville's misadventures. :)
(shh! Keep that to yourself, he looks pretty big and idnt that far away from me) :)
