Without thinking

Without thinking

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

Some people don't think

"

Without thinking,

he opens the door,

and sets out her things

beside the sink.

Without thinking,

he fixes her hair,

pulls out her chair,

and hands her her favourite drink.

Without thinking,

he reaches out,

and straightens her father's jacket.

She smiles behind a glistening tear.

And suddenly,

she's come full circle --

the man she loves,

and the first she ever loved.

She used to believe

she wanted someone thoughtful.

When finally, she realised,

he's everything she needs.

He doesn't think.

He just does.

He just does."
My grandfather awoke early everyday. Walked to Farmer Jacks. Brought dear grandma her treats. 70 years together and she knew she was loved. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

I agree dear Lyn and you are welcome.
Unconditional love that never needs thought about, until we think on how this love has shaped us into what we, and they become.
Such a free and soft flow to your words that makes me think back to all the invisible childhood love that we felt and still feel.
Beautiful.

Very much so, I am a lucky, lucky, man.
kind of a tragedy me thinks ... seems a rather sterile scene ... she's all made up ...by him ... i see her personhood with the final nail pounding shut the coffin when she realized "he's everything she needs." .. i just can't believe her for some reason ... tho the "doing" is proof of the pudding .. he seems so aloof .. in the 70s when i was in college i held the door for a woman (turns out to be a prof) and she was incensed that i did ... of course women's "liberation" reached even my small mid-western college campus ...won't do that again i says to me-self ;} all that aside .. manners have waned ...seems a sort of selfishness seeped in ... but i remain old fashioned .. i like to be the fixer .. the knight to the rescue .. if even to hold the door .. straighten tie etc. .. its a civility we need these days more than ever ..creative theme and scene ma'am ... :)

It all becomes second nature. You learn, and it becomes a habit. Every little detail stored away. All because you care.
