she ain't pretty

she ain't pretty

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

for all the girls I've loved before

"
She is so
smooth ...
and her
smile is
dazzling
white,

She holds
her pinky
quite daintily
when she
sips her
breakfast tea ...

She spends her days
impersonating
little hummingbirds
blue butterflies
and daisies
swaying in the breeze ...

She wouldn't
give you her water
if you were on fire,
but if I told you that
She'd say
I'm a liar ...

once
She's finished
with you
She kills you
and eats you
piece by piece.

All along
She's been hiding her.
the spider inside her
ain't pretty
She just looks
that way

For whatever reason, this reminds me of a praying mantis.

I can see that:)
There's a certain kind of person who uses their good looks for nefarious purposes, such as opening doors & hearts. To me, such beauty doesn't even look attractive, often enhanced with a ton of artificialities. But that's the kind of beauty which seems to capture people's attention & you've spelled out this scene with a measured amount of admiration mixed with slightly scornful asides (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you. I appreciate the time.:)
Said the spider to the fly..your words ring ever so true perhaps beauty isn't all its geared up to be...because in the end they usually get bad returns on their dirty deeds.. like how you phrased this piece..nice work

Beauty without compassion. Tigers are beautiful too, but are deadly. Humans with animal characteristics. That's where you took me Lyn with this well penned poem.

Gee
It's fun getting to know 'em, thing is you gotta be the dumper and not the dumpee at the relationships end.

Yes to aspire to be aware :)
Keen commentary, Lyn. And nicely penned.
Beware those webs, if ever they can be seen upfront...

Smart poetry here.

Thanks so much for the visit

The longer life goes on, the longer the list grows. It would be a quite wonderful memory to have, if not for the clouds that gather at each parting. But mostly we are left holding broken bits of memory, too painful to think.
Beautifully written Lynn.

So very true Lyn. Beauty is only skin deep, it is what is inside a person. Makes the beautiful.

I see her every day (in the mirror) except for the dazzling smile part lol :x
Your last stanza just shows how some of us are too good at maintaining the outer shell while the inner is corroding.
Gives a punch, this one.

Thanks so much. Sometimes the outside is a pretty shell to disguise the underneath
