SolidA Chapter by Lyn Andersonsomething real and good -- inspired by a comment from Paul BellYou're a guy who "cleans up pretty good" you once said to me, a long time ago. You're a farmer, a worker, a red neck at times -- but only in t-shirts and tan lines, not in the ways that matter. You are everything that he was not. and nothing that he used to be. You never shower me in praise and poetry, to wash the dirt of all the mean you threw at me the night before. But when you shower me, you hold me like I want you to, and even wash my hair. You are Solid. As a man should be.
