not going anywhere

not going anywhere

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

on late nights with you

"
afraid to fall

the words that roll
so easily
off my tongue
for others
are not so simple
after all.
not because
I don't feel them
but because
I am afraid
to fall.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For now with you is better than all the forevers who came before ...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your blanket

It isn't that I
don't feel it
in every cell --
I know it.

I am so afraid
to say it,
wrapped in blankets
at your feet.

you say you aren't
going anywhere;
those words are bigger
than this particular night.

you are my
nearly everything
that makes sense,
that feels right.

you didn't have to
but you did,
for me,
like you always do.

because that's the only way
you know how to be.

I love this poem Lynn, it is so you (not that it could be anyone else) but it has that flavor of your boldness as well as your doubts... and there is so much real love oozing from each word (yes even the word afraid and fail), the kind of love that comes when you are connected in all the different ways that can be connected.. it is felt deeply this poem... and I guess I am also very envious of your writing abilities to be able to make people feel and envious that you have such a connection with someone...

a poem I will read many times, many times...

Thanks so much. I appreciate it.
There is so much more than words in this poem - well said, well laid though it is. '.. those words are bigger ~ than this particular night.' Shadows and bright lights vie for the spotlight, unsure who wants or needs to be comforted, to go on .. I find it sadly bewildering. '.. but because ~ I am afraid ~ to fall.'

Life is sad, and bewildering at times. Thank you.
"Not because I don't feel them but I'm afraid to fall"
Very beautiful..

Thank you for your comments.
Your style reminds me of another poet on the WC, but I will not say which one. I liked this a lot. Dipping one's toes in the water after a break up is not easy. Lydi**

A gentle and loving tribute. I like how internal change of povs. I can relate to the thoughts that are conveyed by your writing.

"It isn't that I
don't feel it
in every cell --
I know it.

I am so afraid
to say it,
wrapped in blankets
at your feet"

I often felt the same...and I stuck to it which had destroyed a very deeply felt and peaceful time for me..

But I'm glad you're with the loving "I'm not going anywheres".
