that sinking feeling

that sinking feeling

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

washed the poems with the rest of my laundry

"
Opened the notepad
on my shiny new phone
so I could post
one of 30 odd poems
I had tucked away.

then it hit me

like the time
I threw my jeans in
with the napkins from the bar
after I hooked up
with whatshisface --

his phone number
wasn't the worst of it.
it was the poems
I jotted down
as I crunched my ice cubes.

in my excitement
over my new phone
I was a little quick
with the security wipe
on the old one.

just as effective as a Maytag

without the paper bits
stuck to my favourite pink sweater
to remind me
of the words
I lost.

oh man...i have written poems on napkins and left them in that pair of jeans that went through the washer and then the dryer...

and those pieces of lint with ink stains...all i had left...

a total bummer...hate losing those...because it is losing bits of self.

The security wipe on a Blackberry is just as efficient as a Maytag -- only, no paper bits ...
s**t
right?
lint never
reshapes into paper
let alone words on it

for a second I thought your
pic was Cheerios which gave
the sinking feeling a totally
different twist.

not sure I should be thankful
it wasn't lipstick... 30 poems
is almost as bad as new
wardrobe though.

so relatable
without the mundane
nice.
