it floats

it floats

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

sometimes, it just does float

"
"Sometimes it floats,"
SHH
It'
s
you.
Pennywise
must have known you
personally ...

lobotomy

Scraping at what's left
of my love for something
that was always a lie.
Poking holes in my fragile
piece of mind --
enlisting an army of memories
to push just the right buttons.
negotiation ceases to be an option
when the enemy refuses
to put down his weapon.
so hell bent on winning,
he forgot he isn't a king,
and children are not pawns.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You aren't all that.

"I will bury you,
reduce you to tears
just with my words."

I am paraphrasing, mind you,
it's been a while since I have actually
listened to one of your diatribes.

You are still the same.
attempting to bury me in Arial type face,
menacing me in Times New Roman ...

...But You
are not the You
you once were...

all encompassing
enthralling
exciting
then ever so slowly
exsanguinating --
we became
mere existence
extraneous
to the new him
who swallowed
the you
and spat out the
leftovers
unceremoniously
exiled
to the he.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I instantly clicked on this because I am a die hard fan of Stephen King's "It" and I am looking forward to the remake. The assumption that "it floats" was a King reference was correct. This pleases me, indeed.

FORMAT AND CONTENT

The format correlates to a turbulence of emotions; anger, passion, and fear. The writer effectively relates King's novel to her personal experiences which focuses on break ups. Visually, I can see the distraught girl sitting behind her computer, tearing herself apart by reading the "Aerial" and "Times New Roman" text that belittles her. "it" can be perceived as the ex boyfriend or girlfriend and therefore, identified as a coward or the personification of fear which was the theme of King's "It." Despite the anger, she is trying to cut contact with the ex by convincing herself that her words do not hurt her. She realizes how much of a coward he is for not talking to her in person, hiding behind the "pennywise" masque that is the virtual world.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

Stephen King is a great writer despite some criticisms I have. "It" is the longest novel I was enthralled with until the end. We must talk about that horrid ending. :P

Overall, I enjoyed this read because of its fast pace. Clearly, I am not aware of the entire situation but interpret what is depicted here. The conjecture would be that the relationship with the ex was toxic for it is indicated that he used the past against the speaker.

Well done. You have gained my attention.

sincerely,
ria
