A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

thoughts on today

"
I sat to write tanka,
but the third line escaped me,
I wrote this poem,
but my brain began counting,
all the syllables in you.

it's so easy to fall asleep next to you.
it's so hard to stay asleep next to you.

you needn't worry
as long as I want you
more than I need you,
we'll be just fine.

Indeed, wanting more than needing is the key to a good relationship. No one wants to be in a needy situation. KL, all the syllables of YOU are wonderful...no need to count them for sure. Lydi**

Thank you for your thoughts.
This is a case where the whole is much more than the sum of its parts (and the parts are exquisite). Your images fall as softly on my mind as that sweet post-"wanting" nap. Great stuff!

Nice to see you. Thank you, I appreciate it.
that is what keeps people together...it is wanting more than needing...once we start needing, that kills it on both side...

love the first part of this so much..."counting all the syllables in you"---what a line.

i am trying to stay awake next to your poem...but i fall asleep cuddling with it...and then want to wake again to keep reading more...

Thank you for your most lovely and poetic review. :)
Those two lines say so much.
It's been a long time since I've felt comfortable enough to sleep with someone. A good restful sleep. And the person that enables that feeling of peace is the one you want to stay awake with too. I like this
