A 9x12 envelope

A 9x12 envelope

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

sifting through the rubble

"
My love for you fit in a 9x12 envelope.
Every breakup
You held them,
For ransom
And gave them back
When you deemed fit.
On the outside of the envelope,
Another empty promise
"I will never do this to you again"
it said.
Of course you did.
I marked it LIAR
And threw it in with the rest
Of your precious things.
I hope you burned it,
Like you said.

Thanks. Sifting through my work, I ran across a poem that made me write this one.
love this...get the theme...the empty promises---and then they don't put enough postage on the envelope and we get stuck paying the extra heartbreak...

really good metaphor here.

Thanks. It works as a metaphor, and, it is quite literal. :) Thanks for always being there.
