Adjoining thoughts

Adjoining thoughts

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

sometimes despite our best laid plans ...

"

Contrived

Was our meeting

To ensure success

We were both done

With come by chance

And happenstance.

Craving something

Real.

But something safe,

A small investment,

Nothing we would

Feel.

How naive I was

To think I wouldn't find

Romance ...

In the

crook of your arm

In the

middle of the night

In the

way you smell

In the

way you breathe

Into me when we do things

Just right ...

We took all the precautions,

We built the walls.

We just didn't realize

They had adjoining

Rooms.

When someone mentions walls in a poem, you always think the worse. But somehow you managed to break down the wall. Hope the night was good.

YVW! :D
I love this way of looking at the walls we build to protect our hearts, and the way love finds it’s way in anyway. I never quite thought about it this way. Lovely.

Aww, thank you. I appreciate it.
This message has a melancholy feel that reflects how I've been feeling lately in general. I don't have any recent relationships to compare this to, but it also true of other kinds of relationships, such as friends & family. I really love your use of "walls" to suggest how we humans compartmentalize, but at times, such distinctions get blown away by the realities of intense lingering feelings, regardless of what we do to try to harness the pain.

Sometimes, the safety of the net gives us false hope while falling. Sometimes it catches us, and sometimes we let our guard down knowing it is there to save us, forgetting all else, even the reason for the net in the first place.
Beautiful warm feel to your words here, with the subtlest lines to end on, leaving that thought in the readers mind. Superb.

oh that first one....yes, we just wanted fun, not to feel...but damn those feelings creep up on us...

we get hijacked...end up at that love motel, with adjoining hearts.

Yeah, it happens even when we are sure it won't. Thanks for your review, as always.
There's always room for something good.
It latches on then moves in slowly.

I slipped down that particular rabbit hole a while ago -- just hate to admit it is all.

Yeah, it's kind obvious. :)
It doesn't have to be perfect to be good. If it works for both, then it's good.

That's the miracle, not looking for perfect, and finding damned close without meaning to. :)
Great song and amazing poetry dear friend.

Life teaches us many lessons. More takers than givers. I liked the above lines. I been to this place. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
