A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

what I admire most about others is something I could never be

"
I don't know how
to set my mind
completely free
and let it wander,
in the grass
is greener
other side
I cannot abide
by metre
and rhyme
and haven't
the time
or energy
for abstractions --
too many distractions
ground me
in reality.
I haven't the skill
to live in allegory,
nor the temperament
to tell a story
beautifully ...
I can only be
who I have always been
the one who lives
in the in-between.

Author's Note

Lyn Anderson
in my humble opinion -- hd rushin -- queen of free flow poetry
and her counterpart, the very real Chris. Jacob -- nobody does
an allegory or a metaphor like him -- Lydia -- oozes grace, and style -
- Relic, and Richard -- reworking and perfecting are an artform --
barleygirl -- real life in perfect metre and rhyme -- Jon Roggie
-- the epitome of reality, Papaya -- romantically heartbreaking
-- Caradoc -- always in black -- Coyote -- words to swoon by
every day -- redzone -- stand up for everyone in a poetic way
-- Einstein Noodle, quirky and abstract -- Vanessa and JC
-- prose in all its complex simplicity -- Alfred Kukitz-- poetic
wisdom -- and Pryde, who has so much style in presentation
there are many many more ... I don't have the ability to list
them all or be like any one of them.
I can only be me.

The best way to be:):):)
The beauty of poetry is that there are so many ways to invoke ideas and feelings that we all have our own crazy way of sharing our thoughts. For the record, I thought you actually wrote this poem beautifully, especially given that the subject matter isn't particularly emotional. You did a great job with this, I look forward to reading more from you and your suggestions!

The mind reflects, a small daydream erupts into a vehicle of inner travel, you follow finding yourself in random, ideas embrace the soul, the first few words come and intuition makes it all whole.

Have a nice trip!

very clever, my friend
In my humble opinion--Richard--the most skilled poet on this site--H. L. Cerveise--the most unique and thought-provoking--Songstress--my favorite free-verse poet--Queen--amazes me with her spiritual works--Darian B.--very good at giving his poems a "raw" feel while still being poetic--Shabeeh Haider--flawless metre and rhyme--M. L. Franchello--very good at rhythm and telling stories with her poems--Renee J. Martin--love her way of weaving simplicity and nature into her works--Nessly--creates an 'overflow of emotion' with her poems--Elmarie--good at adding humor and sincerity in her works, always a delight to read :)

Just thought I'd share some of my favorite poets on this site. Now, as for this poem, I liked it. I loved the line-breaks, and I also love the ambiguity of the last line. This made me feel like I was "floating," as if the poem just read itself. Well done.

Omg, wow. You are awesome and no one can ever be you.

You have your own unique 'you' thing going on. It's like a combo of sass n class. (In between class and sass, see... Just like you said, in between)

Sassaclass- that better not be a word already. I'm googling it then claiming it, and dedicating it to you with all of my heart. Stick it in the mail, seal it with a kiss and hope to God that Canada Post does not go on strike!

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing. That is awesome. I like that term.
Oh, give me a break. You have a whimsical side. Might take a little push to bring it out, but you leap at the opportunity. Face it. You can write, and you keep trying. However, I may get cards printed with a new title. The epitome of reality. Should settle any job interview very quickly.

You are funny. And I like you very much Tortoise. Thank you.
Why would you ever want to be anyone else? You're the cool kitty with the sassy swagger and real sharp claws. Some of your poems are like velvet. They ooze sensuality and rawness, but you often mix in points of hard romanticism. And then your other ones are sharp and biting, fiery, and fierce in their admonishments and stating truth. All of them are honest.

This one is no less than any other. It is uniquely KLGoode. The in-between? More like wherever the Kitty feels like being.

-Cara

P.S. You're really getting to me with all the good Halestorm music.
