frog for solitude

frog for solitude

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

inspired by hd rushin and always makes me think of Einstein Noodle

"
the frog hasn't stopped chirping
since they left.
he sounds a little like
a broken electronic device.
I am indecisive.
and my writing lacks a certain
je ne sais quoi.
I am pretty sure the frog
is chastising me
for letting them go
I had no choice
oh yes you did
the voice of my father
who is often right,
but lacks tact.
beer number three.
should I feed the frog
or just listen to him whine?

your opening two lines are so open ended i am already intrigued to fill in the "they"
i love the enigma of the frog .. and your closing two lines are as intriguing as the first two .. my first reaction is instant ..feed the frog, feed the frog!!! but then the pull of ...ohhh maybe that's not such a good idea pokes itself in .. i really like this metaphorically ambiguous you ;)
E.

put me on your list ..would love to have a signed copy to put in my library for all times ..
I am straightforward, like you, so I understand the need to try to stretch into different genres, such as abstract & fantasy. I think this is a great effort in a new direction for you. I love comparing the frog to an electronic device chirping. I find that the plentiful tree frogs residing in my potted plants always seem to belt out a big deep croak whenever something notable happens in my life or in my mind. It's like they're inside my head . . . that's why I could relate to this delicious little fantasy.

I picked up the latest copy of "Poetry", the bi monthly and could recognize anything.. At least nothing that
resembles what we do. Parenthetically, I realize that poetry (the act, not the art form) is this whole
world of digressional themes and discourses. In other words, voices and inspirations comprising a series of individual assemblages may not have anything to do with anyone else. We cant fault the frog for one's uncertainty no more than we can fault the voice of reason for our reasonableness.

Wasn't it Robert Johnson, the famous blues singer, who sold his sole to the devil for just a few more moments of objectivity? And if the frog of myth finds us at that same crossroad, wont we too ponder
our outcomes... Beautiful write my friend.....love always...dana

but you probably let them go for good reason...i have made decisions the same way, those frogs keep chirping...but i have to believe i did what i needed to do... and they need to go jump in a pond.

and let regret hop away from me.

Yes, that's what the beer was for.:) Thank you for reading and reviewing.
So... After a few too many beers your pet dog turned into a frog?
I'm so dumb at interpreting. :). Sorry!
Or is the frog your nagging conscience?
Trés abstract.

The frog really is a frog. He really does chirp. The rest is just melancholy having its way with me.

Don't kiss him. It doesn't work. :)
I hope today is better, I know yesterday was rough.
