an echo of my soul

a threeway collaboration with ~Papaya~ and Jon Roggie

  etched 

on the parchment of my past,

are the words

I cannot erase ... 

chronicles 

           of each moment

that designed who I am;

shaping my story

               and on the pages       

the empty spaces             

  are smoothed out
with time

leaving only footprints  --

                stories half-remembered

an echo
of my soul

in moments fleeting,

regrets never forgotten --

another bit
of writing ...

etched 

on the parchment of the past,

my ink remains, 

                    though paper

is dust.

I am not sure if this is a correct interpretation but this is what I got from it that our past is a story. Those regrets, those moments are the ones that make our story and our story needs to be put down on paper for others to see. I got the others to see from the 'footprints" because that what footprints do let others know you were here or there. It a a beautiful poem and thank you so much to all the authors for writing this and sharing. Laters, N.

yes, this feels like one writer...the paper turns to dust, fragments, but the ink on the soul of the writer is indelible....lasting...

we can only hope we are leaving something worthwhile behind...or will our memory just end up being figurative dust?

not easy for three to become one eh!? :) the ending is what really gets me ... most alluding to the pen is of power and permanence ... but you guys run true ..everything becomes dust once again ... some days there are way to many echos bouncing around me own noodle .. Norma should take the car keys away from me on those days ... ;)

The line that you speak of, and the title, comes from Jon Roggie -- we collaborated together with ~Papaya~ and when it was pieced together, I edited it. The formatting and repetition are courtesy ~Papaya~ -- her very smart vision of my words that brought it all together.
