so much for May flowers

so much for May flowers

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

the cold just doesn't want to surrender

"
with dogged determination,
the winter holds on
to the edge of spring,
trying to gently acquiesce
to the summer sun,
the cold screams
and the wind ushers
in the icy rain --
the flowers cry in pain
for the warm has not yet won ...
jackets hanging on hooks,
and the fire still waiting to be fed,
cannot wait to put the boots
in their rightful place
under the bed.

Just like nature, life is beyond our control. That is the metaphoric analogy I took from your fine poem.

I've spent three years in the navy.
A good portion of these three years was cold as s**t.
If there is something I've learned from my service is this-

Rain will find a way.
No matter how many ropes you tie around your waist,
No matter how expensive and professional your Wintercoat is,
Rain will find a way.

Water and your underpants share a bond that you can't hope to interrupt, it's too rude.
So yeah, I loved your poem.
But I freaking hate Winter.

Well, I like it when I see it through the window, in the safety of my hot chocolate mug.

...Sorry for the rambling.
Thank you for the poem.

What a lovely and really well-written poem. Though one little suggestion, warmth instead of warm maybe in "for the warm has not yet won". It'd read a tad better, I think.
It's gotten colder again where I live too. It's been really nice and warm for weeks but somehow an icy breeze messed it all up.

Ah, ok. Whatever you like. You're welcome.
It is starting to warm up here, so much so that Allergies have taken me over. All this sneezing sucks.

On your wonderful write, you really capture the dread that people feel when winter just won't let go. The way it flows is perfect. Pretty soon we'll be complaining of the humidty.

Thanks. For those of us who live in places with real seasons, many of us prefer a warmer spring.

Blah, shut up. It's a fine poem! Spring will come thump you over the head soon enough.
And your birds will sing, your bees will hum and your buds will bloom. :-)
