16,000,000 Scoville Units in love

16,000,000 Scoville Units in love

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a Scoville unit measures the heat in peppers (16,000,000 being the hottest)

"
counting the minutes

I find myself
counting the minutes
glancing at the phone
listening
for your ring tone

Anxious in the
expectation,
responding with
intentioned
hesitation

that belies my desire
to press send
the minute I see
your query
do I have time to spare?

(I don't -- but for you
I'll make it there ...)

I think we spend
too much time thinking
where do we fit?
instead of just
going with it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
how many Scoville units in love?

We are a lovely anomaly -

hormonally speaking
our zing should be
long past expiry --
yet we are still
Scoville unit fiery

believe me baby
when I say
capsaicin's

got nothing
on the heat
I feel for you.

________________________________________________________________________________

a moving finish line

the race
up hills
and into
valleys
rough terrain
panting
clawing
softness yielding
crescendo building
again
from under
struggling to breathe
needing
to get there
a race to the
finish line --
we sprint to a tie
the only winners
are you and I

Thanks, I try to do it often and well.:)
I feel like that kid standing in the crowd, elbowing his friend while whispering profusely loud.
''..HEY.''
''PSST.''
''..Is this about Sex?''

At this point everyone facepalm, and me, blushing and shocked that I'm the only one who took so long to get it, go ahead and dismiss myself while cursing at my late understanding.

So.. Uhn.

My personal awkwardness aside,
This is a great poem. I love it.
I really do. Don't mind my mumbling and fubmling,
At the heart of it I wouldn't spend time reviewing this if I didn't like it.
Sometimes I wish I felt more confident when it came to Poetry so I could give you actual tips, some constructive criticsm, but my strength is the plot and not the execution.

So I'll stick to an honest thumbs up and a geniune thank you for the poem.

Thanks. It's about peppers of course -- don't want to get nabbed by the mature ratings police ...
This is absolutely stunning and lovely. I was utterly moved by it. It is beautiful and beautiful also in its expression. Everybody wins with this one. Thank you for sharing :)

Thank you. I am a rather straightforward poet and person.
there can be no other high than to end in a tie ;) ... the expectation in your poem brings (manly) hot flashes of my teenage years ...such electricity of immediacy ... (overthinking can be such a dull game) .. i love hot stuff!! so thank you for my new learning this morning "Scovilles" ...and if you do actually like them check this place out ...i have skulls hanging all around the house ...

Thanks so much for stopping in.
KL, no lonely poems are allowed, especially not any of yours, even more so when they top the scoville scale and put capsaicin to shame.. or is that "capaiSIN... er.. I mean, oh hell sometimes there is something to that, "don't think, just do" and let your heart and instincts guide you... and when there is no race and no winners, just the mouth watering, tongue burning, sweet entanglement of enjoying each other all night long and day and night and and.. er.. okay breakfast and coffee at some point... ;0)

don't mind me KL I get carried away... going to go grab a beer this poem was very "capsaicin"

I love this!!!!!
I love the first one especially.
I don't know what the hell "capsaicin" is but it sure sounds hot.
This poems sizzles with love and desire, but in a very romantic and sassy classy kind of way.
Three thumbs up! (my imaginary Fred is with me today...)

The hottest thing on the Scoville scale, and thank you for the review. This poem was very lonely. :)
