I used to say I hated orange

I used to say I hated orange

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

don't knock it till you try it

"
so my friend says to me
"I don't like yellow".

"what do you mean",
I say,
"which yellow doth offend thee? you don't like lemon, mustard, banana, or vanilla ice? or maybe you just don't like the colour
of pee?"

all of them are yellow
but none of them
are the same,
you see
?

I used to say I hated orange, I don't know why

maybe because it refuses to rhyme

then one fateful day
I found just the right dress
at just the right time
a shade off watermelon
and a hair off scandalous ...

I used to say the
same thing about
girls I'd never kiss
but that's another story
I don't have time for this ...

now I'll never again
say I hate orange
or anything else
except maybe Mondays
and my Ex,
but I tried those first.

"But I tried those first".

Exs and Mondays...hard not to hate those.

Good message though. Don't knock it til you try it. Nicely put, especially calling out how generalizations in general are bad.

Edit: I too am not particularly fond of most things that are orange or the fact it doesn't rhyme. lol I have yet to find a shade that catches my fancy.
