your reputation precedes you sir

your reputation precedes you sir

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

for Lydia, who inspires me, and got me thinking about people who need attitude adjustments

"
your reputation
precedes you,
or is that your
attitude I see
jutting out
obscenely
between your
nose and your
square tip shoes ...

you always need to be
the centre of attention
and you are clearly
the expert on
everything from
diesel engines
to nuclear physics
you thought I was
an easy mark ...

you thought yourself
more than adequate
to enchant me
away from a man
you believe to be
a simple farm hand,
but I see
through you
and into him.

I'm thinkin' "Oh, hello and no, thanks."
It is as Annie sings "Baby you're just overblown."
You might have been a sketch artist here for a few I've met....
Thank God for real men!
Whooo hooo - You got me rockin' now!

Thanks. I appreciate it. A little humour doesn't hurt once in a while.
A well placed volley of vitriol. I hate people like that too (I imagine most people do). Something that needed saying, and you said it well. Thank you.

oh my ... some Jack ... hot on the tail of the best Classy Lasses around .... well my dearest friend ...its a good thing you are not flattered ... the fullness of himself is not compensated by the stretch of imaginations ... nor his belts ...( i would wager ... :) but let me put it to you my love ..who is to judge?? ;) perhaps his inflation is in direct proportion to his properly deflated thoughts of self ... directly manifested in malfunctions of a mind not connected to matter ... limply astute to the sharp edged rebuke .. of one of the best around! eh!? such a foolish man! :) I really like this .. its a keeper!

Ya, he's lucky, but so am I. Thanks for stopping by.:)
Your poem is direct & slamming with a kick or two to the groin. Nicely done. We've all known the type & I love that you present a simple farmhand as the loving antidote to bombastic know-it-alls! *smile*

i wonder who is the suspect in this poem - know you aren't that kind of woman - this is veiled and intriguing - gotta watch out for this kind of man

YES! I am so glad I was able to inspire a poem like this! Love the character study. I can see him swaggering into a lounge thinking he is "all that". A dilettante! Love the Annie Lennox song too. Wonderful, KL! Lydi**

All those people's character flaws - from not wanting to be corrected to Mr Know-it-all and love to be in the spotlight person. Your write makes me smirk. Well said and true. I'm really into the line "to enchant me away from a man", reads witty and nice.
