when you

when you

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

relating how one feels for another to how the other may feel for them

"
as the warm water splashes deliciously over
my skin,
I imagine is this how
your day with me
begins ...

a little yearn
a little burn
a little wonder
a little smile ...

carefully unbutton your shirt,
scrub your hands free of dirt
keep them just a little rough
but give the nails a gentle file,

make sure you have the ring
(I gave you) on your finger,
and the cologne I bought you
last December --

all the little things
I too remember --

does your heart still race?
your feet still pace?

all the little things I do
all the little things I see in you --
does that mean
you love me too?

Author's Note

Lyn Anderson
I apologize -- this poem feels to me something like I would have written when I was 18.

But I guess he brings out the 18 in me.:) Hence the retro tune.

Love is goofy. Make us do foolish things and you are welcome.
reminiscing, yearning, nostalgic piece in amber tones - you are falling in love with him, wondering if he is falling for you too

That pretty much sums it up. Weirdness, no matter how old we get ...:)

then you would have been a fine writer at 18---what i am seeing here is a perfect example of when love is real...it's when all the little mundane things really mean something to each other...the everyday...

i have felt a connection to this...no apologies necessary.

Thanks so much. I just felt it a bit -- I don't know, but glad it hits some good notes.
and just what is wrong with being/feeling 18??? ;0)

maybe the Foreigner song gets it right.. "maybe it's the woman in you that brings out the man in me", but in this case it would be the music found in your "young poem" that brings out the man in him...

I love your poem KL, it's sweet and filled with "the little things" that show what love is... which reminds me of another retro Foreigner song "I Want To Know What Love Is".. and he should show you!!

I hope you have this KL

I like this and this is something I'm sure many in a relationship ponder from time to time. The song was a perfect choice.
