burned in your fire.

burned in your fire.

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

just read it

"

i want you
to be able to
tell me everything
even if your
problem is me *

*the previous paraphrase is brought to you by Prince -- "If I was your girlfriend"

... so few things
I never told you

in the beginning
it was because
I thought
what the hell,
I have nothing to lose.

now it's because
you are the one
with whom
I always choose
to share.

but there's one thing
I didn't know how to say

your name
at first
because it is
the same
as the man
who broke me --

the one who
inadvertently
led me
to become
the wrong
man's wife.

time passed
and I found it
fun to say,
a secret
special kind
of revenge.

but now
your name,
is yours alone,
and I barely
remember
the other.

kind of like how you helped me
take back my life.

and memories of others
are ashes,
like red dresses
and paper promises
we burned
in your fire.

this poem makes me sad - anguish over a love that didn't work and finding a new love that just doesn't fit with who we are and what we can give

Nice to see you. But I like my country young and pretty.:)
It's often neat the way something starts one way and grows into something else, like "wanting " to tell him things..

That last part really moved me KL
"and memories of others

in your fire."

The whole poem was special and the music ... yes feeling this way is like a roller coaster..
