Twisted root

Twisted root

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

the cracks in my mind

"
Twisted root presses itself inside
the place it's supposed to be,
poised,
wanting the firmament beneath,
the nurturing soil and and water
just out of reach.
tangled and damaged,
too broken to taste
all of what it requires,
too stubborn
to stop reaching,
too hardy
to die.

A little burrowing never hurt anyone … you never know what you'll find down there. Great metaphor work.

Thank you very much, albeit 6 months late, I have returned to the Cafe' after some personal time.
a psychological thriller ... some thoughts and processes can be lethal ... oppressively cycling from one bit of dark fear and demise to another ... over and over and over again ... we see the pattern ... disspell its beginnings and the rest unravels in disappearing mists ... but what courage it takes .. courage and a calming ;) love the tree and roots associations ... very vivid image for me ..enjoyed reading and message i see in your poem :)

ps i read from your comments on comments that your poem is about love and not giving up .. so i realize i have gotten it all wrong ... you say it in a unique, intriguing way .. with lots of room for interpretations ;)

That is what makes poetry great. What others see is no always what our initial thoughts were.

All the angst of feeling the pain and the struggle and yet being too doggedly stubborn to give up told in a metaphor that flows.

I think it came from a conversation about how I keep falling in love, despite myself. Sound familiar.. read more

Yeah unfortunately I do to. Haven't for the longest period in my life now lol
Been too long since I read work from you... when you hold on to love too tightly you choke the life out of it.

I think of the song by 38 Special...

"Hold on loosely but don't let go..."
