Lucky for you the horse is already dead.

Lucky for you the horse is already dead.

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a revamp of my latest, broken into two parts from the original SIN

"
Lucky for you
Orange isn't the
New black
for me

The one thing

Water under bridges
and all that ...

The one thing you swore
you never lied about
you did.

I don't know whether to feel
one-upped or betrayed,

But it appears
you
were the first who strayed.

And thus the high horse
becomes a dead horse,
no need to flog it
anymore.

I never noticed this before, but when you write about love-gone-bad (presumably in regards to your ex), there are similarities between how your narrator (you) responds to him (your ex) . . . and how Trump-haters respond to the autocrat here in the USA. Trump wasn’t part of our lives, back when I was reading your stuff long ago (first time around). Now that I’ve come back to reading you, after 2 years of enduring Trump, I can see and feel the connection – I feel like I’ve been married to a horrible man these past two years --constant chaos, smoke-and-mirrors, twisting every sentence into a weapon to uphold only his own personal interests, always one-upping or degrading people, and beating every dead horse into oblivion. For the first time reading you, I was not engrossed in imagining what YOU went thru . . . but what WE CONTINUE TO GO THRU (as it escalates to an excruciating level). Just when I thought I had successfully sworn off all bad men for the rest of my life! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thanks. And yes, unfortunately, I think too many people can relate
Honest and direct words my friend. The song became one of my favorite. Anger and a armed woman. Best leave the state.
"I don't know whether to feel
one-upped or betrayed,"
I liked the above lines. Loser or winner. Both shall lose. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I liked the song and the poem. I'm behind and trying to catch-up. Good to be able to read your words.. read more
there is no such thing as an honest cheater.

and nobody should ever pay for another's mistakes

Think on this for a minute: "Nobody can cheat on the one they Love."

Thanks. It is funny, what you discover, after the fact...
fantastic close ... and closure is needed ... its too easy to set ourselves up in hypocrisy .. difficult to challenge but simple to put on ... ;)
"I don't know whether to feel
one-upped or betrayed," ... those lines really tweek my numbskull to life .. there is a bit of "the rest of the story" in them :) i am never disappointed visiting your work! :)

hmm and that one thing .. just that one ... and its another broken promise and betrayal :((
And thus the high horse
becomes a dead horse,
no need to flog it
anymore.

I just love that ending... when you play games with others hearts you will eventually be found out, then no one will want you.

Thanks, that was my favourite part too.
I hear "Orange is the New Black"
You have to love how the woman in the video arranged it so the cheating hubbie and girlfriend got to wear the prison garb.
Hmmmmmm?
Excellent song choice if I may say so myself.

Thanks for the song pointer, White Hat.
I am guessing that the first part of this is a veterinary thing given the photo? Someone has let you down indeed and Lord help them! Must read the original now.
