YOU are

YOU are

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

No, this is not about THE EX -- but a long time ago love

"
my security blanket

Do you have a secret box of memories?
gifts and poems, locked somewhere tight?
every once in a while I take them out,
to keep me warm at night.

funny, she never sent me a thank you card

for a moment
when I first open my eyes
you are there.
that crooked smile,
on your perfect face.

but she has you now.
and there's not but me
to thank for her blessings
and me to blame for my mistakes.

selfishly yours

All the words I long to say
all the things I regret to this day,
must remain with me.
to open them up is me just being selfish,
wishing and hoping, you feel them too.

you are

my biggest
should have
stayed,

my only

shouldn't have
gone.

all the words said
and the ones
I never did.

the pain of regret
is never
so sharp

as it is
when it
comes

to you.

Hi, KL... I was reading these little beauties and realized that they almost seem to be written at different times and then... collected into a little four square box of memories! Maybe the were, but regardless each one speaks to me, especially the last lines of the ending poem...

"the pain of regret
is never
so sharp

as it is
when it
comes

to you."

This is just heart piercing and wise and well written... they punctuate your quartet just perfectly. Great work!

Missed you too. Just been busy is all.
KL, you summon the deepest emotions here...visceral and shards of life placed and reorganised, good to read you today xo

Thank you. Always a delight to see you
I wonder if this emotional journey is not some form of self abuse...?
We have all done this same thing I think. Regret, but even more to lament a soap bubble rainbow.
Your poetry hits home in a wistful way, but it reminds me of the vanity of our emotions at times.
Forward! Onward! Upward! Outward!
Good to read you again.

Ah yes, and that's why it's here instead of the mail:)
Collections of sorrows many of us have and you write them out so succinctly and with pathos.

You too. Been away thinking and stuff!
I have two boxes of memories, one happy, one sad. I cherish both.
Four golden nuggets KL. Good to read you again.

Thank you for your kind words.
The thank you card was funny… when someone steals our love the least they can do is gives us gratitude… seriously though, you again put out such a deep expression of the heartache that comes when we are left cold by broken love.

Well we are all young and stupid once, that is how we become older and wiser.
Beautiful write.. Especially liked the way you broke the entire piece into parts yet it is actually read as one single poem... great execution :)
