Destiny's 8 Bridges

Destiny's 8 Bridges

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson

Bridges

I paved over
the debris
left from
bridges
I burned after
you
footprints
in wet cement
wandering
a new path
to another
door.

Entropic vision
turned
inward
blinded
clouds my
judgment
love.

headlines

etched between my brows
and into your forehead,
stories of where
we've been
and where
we've yet to go.
trying to read between
to see if there is room
for you
and me.

I don't know when
or if
I tripped
slipped
stumbled
or fell.

but one day
came a time
only to
your heart
my secrets
I tell.

Inhale  deeply
the scent of your
skin
spread your
sin
in my secret spaces
feel me
gather all of you
into me

trying
too hard
to be
less
than
who I am
so you
won't see
the more
inside me.

why do you sometimes
turn away
when I feel those baby blues
land softly upon me?
are you afraid of
what they'll say,
or what they won't?

waiting for you to find a destiny far from me,
knowing in my heart that what I want cannot be.

Intimate and sensual, your words create a diary of a love affair. I especially liked:

to see if there is room
for you
and me"

Wanting something or someone unavailable...whether because of other entanglements or other problems...is excruciating. Your words are emotional and honest. I always enjoy your work. Lydi**

With each thought you've opened a window to show us your strength and vulnerability.
Headlines... That's the million dollar question, is there room, for you and me. Beautiful work as always.

Yes, I agree, that is the question. Thank you.
I always seem to want something I can't have and I'm finding myself in that place even now. It would seem that with every new page I turn there is another bridge I burn and once I'm across it, I've nothing with which I can rebuild it. I think this piece definitely speaks to that which we cannot have and always want. Temptation looms in it's depths and finds in them a a chink in otherwise impenetrable armor, form which the bridge can be burned. Nicely done KL.

I felt this.............
I know this............

This is really Special.
The struggle to find understanding.
All these separate thoughts hanging in the air, heart, mind and soul.
Oh the wrenching , swaying, weighing and comparing of thoughts while, trying to force those separated thoughts into one Bridge of understanding.

WOW you just spoke my whole life in one poem. The struggle to understand this life.
I wish it was as easy to struggle just one love :-)
But a whole life? Wow did I feel this.
I can clearly see this was not an ordinary poem.
This one came from pure creativity.
It's a Keeper!

I am honoured by your thoughtful review. Thank you.
Another collection of thoughts although they do share a common bridge which is ultimately, the desire for closure and renewal. Even if th steps feel like regressing at times, in reality time does not wait and changes things around us even if we don't want them.

Thank you

Thank you, as always, for taking the time.
Dyslexia's nightmare ... :)
i like this style .. small bursts of creative spontaneity .. kind of a story that starts at the end goes to the beginning and back to the end .. entropy!! i love those guys .. i think i read that one over 5-6 times and will continue to think about it .. have to wonder what you were eating, drinking or ??? ..i think the overall effect of your poem is powerful, emotive and engaging .. i like the form, words and flow .. each bridge a little destiny in itself .. into the library it goes!

That delights me, since I consider you one of the best writers here. Thank you.
Brilliant. I especially like the lines; "etched between my brows; and into your forehead,; stories of where; we've been; and where; we've yet to go.; trying to read between; to see if there is room; for you; and me." I found the sadness of the closing lines ("waiting for you to find a destiny far from me,; knowing in my heart that what I want cannot be.") especially poignant.
