A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a dream

"
eleven years ago,
you were a hope,
two pink stripes
on a stick
after a lifetime
of saying
maybe, someday ...
a tiny miracle
growing inside of me
needing me
to keep you
safe and warm.
today,
your tenth birthday,
I shower you
with kisses
in front of your friends
and you laugh
even as your
face turns red.
and I smile,
because despite
your protests,
I know you still
need me
just as much
as I need you.

Thank you. Sometimes you just need to step back and see how good your life is despite the trials.
