think like a man

think like a man

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

something someone said to me.

"
"You think like a man,"
he said to her,
like it was some kind
of compliment.

He isn't the first to have said it, either.

She doesn't want a ring,
she just needs to hold you
for a little while.

She doesn't need to be
the centre of everything,
just the corner of your smile.

Often others
don't relate,
think she is cold
and calculating

and maybe, just maybe, she is ...

just how many
she could
keep dating --
thinking like a man.

KL, What a strange comment to say to another human being! Wow. Is that supposed to mean that most women think in scattered, distracted, protracted thoughts? Is that supposed to mean that most women are stupid, vain, and wishy-washy....and that men are more direct and somehow of a higher IQ? What a twisted thing to pop out of someone's unwatchful mouth. A compliment, huh? How insane is that? I love what you did with this backhanded compliment, if that is what it was. You have a particular talent for taking simple off-handed comments and making them into these beautiful treasures to share with us. I was thinking of you today as I drove my car around the town doing errands. I was thinking that you formulate the most interesting poems based on off-the-wall comments people throw at you, or conversations you are lucky enough in which to be present. I have to sit and wait until the mood and the words overcome me. This is yet another example of your quick wit. Very nice!

What kind of guy would say "You think like a man." to a lady?
An interesting poem, and an interesting dilemma; how many could she date at one time?
But she doesn't seem like she wants to be clingy or needy, just looking for some pleasant company.
Well done.

Thanks. I guess, depending on how you look at it, it could be a compliment

I find you in friendship and writings warm and very sincere. You tell it like it is and you might come across like that. I have read somewhere that we are mixture of male and female traits but some overcome the other or we chose to go that way...Excellent...:).................
