think like a man

think like a man

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

something someone said to me.

"
"You think like a man,"
he said to her,
like it was some kind
of compliment.

He isn't the first to have said it, either.

She doesn't want a ring,
she just needs to hold you
for a little while.

She doesn't need to be
the centre of everything,
just the corner of your smile.

Often others
don't relate,
think she is cold
and calculating

and maybe, just maybe, she is ...

just how many
she could
keep dating --
thinking like a man.

It's long been thought the highest developed psyche is androgynous. So if we're evolved (that would be the hard part) we'd be both masculine and feminine. I think I gotta work on that

Great ending. There is still that mad men mentality around but I do hope that it is changing. Remember the old insult, "You throw like a girl," and I was the pitcher for my varsity softball team! It's a mixed up world indeed.

If we all could learn to take a little of everyone it would be a better world indeed.

Sigh, must gotten the wrong interoffice memo, KL, about male thinking. Before I came out, from the Trans closet, have been accused of acting, like a woman, with my emotional display. I know, they weren't saying this, in a positive way, towards me. And yeah, it does hurt.

Your welcome, KL. It's something that needs to be aired and shared.
Men think????... damn I missed that newsflash.. when did that happen?... love pretty reckless by the way.. oh yea.. I have been accused of the same thing.. why do they label it cold and calculating?...

Who the heck knows, perhaps we should all take a little of each.
I'm so with MommaZ on this. I don't know why it's delivered as a compliment...
We're all the same, we have the same needs and desires. It all just boils down to timing.

That's truth right there...
Y'know, I had someone say that to me once, smiling. I wanted to wipe that smile off his face with a brick. When I was still working, men thought that was the highest compliment they could pay a career woman. I always found it demeaning and insulting to our entire gender!

I totally agree.
Everytime someone posts a song from this band I remember actually semi - liying to the diehards as I wanted to go and see her so pretended to be there but not intentionally so to speak....
I think the modern times has opened a door to the concept of the Alpha female if I am not mistaken within that context "cold" thinking or closely related to unemotional is part of the traits to be developed. When it comes to relationships then of course they're the Dominants simple as that so it seems to narrow their possibilities somewhat. Steretypes will do that I guess.

Great subject

Thankyou

Thank you. Pretty Reckless rocks, in my opinion. She's come a long way from Cindy Lou Who.
An ex girlfriend of mine used younger men for years. She would date two-three a week although she did not sleep with most of them. When men do it they get away with it, when women do it they are 's***s', hardly equality.

I enjoyed this poem, I enjoy most of your work. This poem could be larger. It could be more encompassing, less self limited. As always, your choice. Just sayin', you know?
